The New Klang Valley Expressway [a] (NKVE), designated E1, is an expressway entirely within the Klang Valley region of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur in Peninsular Malaysia. The expressway begins at the settlement of Bukit Raja near Klang , and ends at Jalan Duta in Kuala Lumpur . [ 1 ]
The highway was built by S P Setia Berhad, who developed Setia Alam, a new township in Shah Alam.It was constructed in 2004 and was completed in 2006. The highway was opened to traffic on 14 July 2006 alongside the official opening of the new Setia Alam Interchange of the New Klang Valley Expressway.
PROLINTAS held the expressway's opening ceremony at Denai Alam toll plaza on 13 October 2022, and the expressway was opened to traffic on 14 October 2022, at 12:01 AM . The toll were free of charge from the officially opened date until 30 November 2022 [ 3 ] [ 4 ] The project was allocated RM4.2 billion in the Budget 2015.
The expressway, with a paid-up capital of RM 20 million, is a 17.5 km (10.9 mi) two-lane dual carriageway, linking Port Klang to Klang town. Once completed, it will be a catalyst to the surrounding infrastructural development and development of Port Klang.
