Providence neighborhoods with the East Side in red. The East Side is a collection of neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city of Providence, Rhode Island. It officially comprises the neighborhoods of Blackstone, Hope (commonly known as Summit), Mount Hope, College Hill, Wayland, and Fox Point. [1] [2] [3]
Besides these areas, Rhode Island is mostly a middle-income state, as a majority of the population lives in the urban city Providence. 69% of Rhode Island places do however have per capita incomes higher than the national average, one of the highest percentages of any state, but 11.9% of the population lives below the poverty line.

The Hope–Power–Cooke Streets Historic District is a residential historic district on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island.Located east of Brown University, the area is compact area developed in the mid-to-late 19th century as a residential district, with a cross-section of architectural styles from the early 19th to the early 20th century.
Hope Street also runs through the eastern side of Brown University's campus. Hope High School (Rhode Island) is located on the street. Almost all of Hope Street is serviced by RIPTA's route 1 (formerly 42), which provides transit services between Pawtucket and Downtown Providence. [2]
