Daanbantayan, officially the Municipality of Daanbantayan (Cebuano: Lungsod sa Daanbantayan; Tagalog: Bayan ng Daanbantayan), is a municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 93,502 people.
Datu Daya was a legendary lord of Kandaya ("Daya's (kingdom)"), the place that is now known as Daanbantayan, Cebu, in the Philippines. Medellin was formerly part of Daanbantayan. As a town, it started with only 3 barangays, namely; Kawit and Buenavista on the west coast, and Tindog on the east coast. The runway was built by the United States Air Force in 1956 as an emergency airport for Strategic Air Command bombers. It was known back then as the Mactan Air Base. [4] It remained a spartan outpost until the Vietnam War in the 1960s when it became a base for a C-130 unit of the U.S. Air Force.
