KNBR formerly served as the primary entry point station of the Bay Area's Emergency Broadcast System (EBS), but lost the designation in 1990 after major technical malfunctions by the station's engineers during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. The Federal Communications Commission investigated the issue that the EBS designation was "revoked".
KSAN (107.7 MHz, "107.7 The Bone") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to San Mateo, California, and serving the San Francisco Bay Area. It is owned and operated by Cumulus Media and it airs a classic rock radio format. It also serves as the FM flagship station for the San Francisco 49ers Radio Network.
The San Francisco Bay Area is currently the fourth-largest radio market in the United States. While most stations originate in San Francisco, this list includes stations from San Jose, which ranks as the 37th largest radio market but is also considered an embedded market within the Bay Area.
It is owned by the non-profit entity Friends of KEXP, an affiliate of the University of Washington, and broadcasts an AAA format specializing in indie music programmed by its disc jockeys as "KEXP Bay Area", a near-total simulcast of Seattle's KEXP-FM. The station's transmitter is located on Sutro Tower.
The band currently plays live shows throughout the Bay Area and was featured in a cover story in the San Francisco Chronicle Datebook in March, 2008. The station billed itself as "the Bay Area's Classic Hits". However, more Oldies from the 1960s had been added in months around this time. The legendary KFRC call letters left the AM band on October 17, 2005, when the KEAR call letters were transferred from 106.9 FM to 610 AM.

The Quake's tag lines are "The Bay Area Home of Air America", "Talk Radio for the Rest of Us" and "Talk Radio from the Left". The station carried a mix of Dial Global programs, such as Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann, and other distributors. At one time it also carried programs from the now-defunct Air America network.
