Chancery Lane is a London Underground station. It is on the Central line between Holborn and St Paul's stations, and is in fare zone 1. The station has entrances within both the London Borough of Camden and the City of London. [6] It opened in 1900 and takes its name from the nearby road Chancery Lane.
Chancery Lane, numbered the B400 in the British road numbering scheme, connects Fleet Street at its southern origin with High Holborn. It gives its name to Chancery Lane Underground station which lies at the junction of Holborn and Gray's Inn Road, a short distance from Chancery Lane's northern end.

The Holborn District (in green, but excluding St Sepulchre Middlesex and Glasshouse Yard which had been attached to it) merged with the combined parishes of St Giles and Bloomsbury (in red), in 1900, to form the Metropolitan Borough of Holborn. The parts of Holborn outside the City formed the eastern part of the Metropolitan Borough of Holborn.
