Paddington is an inner suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. [3] In the 2021 census, Paddington had a population of 9,063 people. [1] Paddington is located 4.6 kilometres (2.9 mi) west of the Brisbane CBD, by car. As is common with other suburbs in the area, Paddington is located on a number of steep ridges and hills.
[9] [10] [11] Concerts and other events are occasionally held at the Ridgelands Hall. Australian musician Fanny Lumsden performed at the hall in August 2021 as part of her "Country Halls tour". [ 12 ]
The former Plaza Theatre at Paddington was erected c. 1929 by Brisbane contractor John Hutchinson (later J Hutchinson & Sons). Originally commissioned for Greater Brisbane Motion Pictures Ltd and probably designed by Brisbane architect Richard Gailey jnr, the Plaza is a rare early 20th century "atmospheric" theatre in Queensland.
