Interstate 490 (I-490) is a 2.43-mile (3.91 km) auxiliary Interstate Highway in Cleveland, Ohio. The western terminus is a junction with I-90 and I-71 on Cleveland's west side. After spanning the Cuyahoga River, I-490 reaches its eastern terminus at a junction with East 55th Street, just east of I-77.
The numbered street system extends beyond the city limits into some suburbs on both the West and East Sides. The named avenues that lie both on the east side of the Cuyahoga River and west of Ontario Street receive a "west" designation on street signage. The two downtown avenues which span the Cuyahoga change names on the west side of the river.
After heading toward downtown Columbus, US 62 diverts from SR 3 onto US 40 (Broad Street) for a few blocks to Nelson Road. US 62 runs concurrently with Interstate 670 (I-670) near John Glenn Columbus International Airport until the eastern side of I-270 where US 62 heads toward Gahanna , New Albany , Johnstown , Utica , Millersburg , and Navarre .
State Route 3 (SR 3) is a major north–south (physically northeast-southwest) highway in Ohio which leads from Cincinnati to Cleveland by way of Columbus. It is the second longest state route in Ohio. For this reason, the road is also known as the 3-C Highway, a designation which antedates the Ohio state highway system. [2]
After leaving the junction of U.S. Route 20, State Route 57 and State Route 301, where US 20 and SR 301 continue westbound on the freeway, SR 10 reaches North Ridgeville, where it merges with Interstate 480 at the interstate's western terminus in North Ridgeville, and continues with the interstate briefly eastward.
The freeway runs concurrently with I-271 for two miles (3.2 km). I-271 and I-480 were the only two auxiliary Interstates in the nation that ran concurrently with each other for any distance until 2022, when concurrencies between I-587 and I-795 and I-785 and I-840 in North Carolina were established with the designation of I-587 [4] and the completion of the Greensboro Urban Loop. Howard is a census-designated place (CDP) in southern Howard Township, Knox County, Ohio, United States. [2] As of the 2020 census it had a population of 246. The United States Postal Service has assigned Howard the ZIP Code 43028. The community lies along U.S. Route 36.
The expressway passes over some railroad tracks and Linn Street, followed by an eastbound entrance and westbound exit to and from Linn Street. East of the interchange with Linn Street, is a bridge over Gest Street, with a westbound exit. After Gest Street, is an interchange with SR 264, this interchange serves downtown Cincinnati.
