Heist-aan-Zee, Heist or Heyst, is a town (formerly a municipality, until 1971) in Knokke-Heist, West Flanders, Belgium. Georges Lemmen, Beach at Heist, 1892. It was a prominent summer beach resort in the 1890s. It had a beachfront lined with hotels and a "dike" paved walkway on a storm fender.
With an area of 6.02 km 2 (2.32 sq mi), it is also a relatively small municipality in the region, ranking eleventh out of nineteen. It is bordered by the Brussels municipalities of Anderlecht, Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, Jette and Koekelberg , as well as the Flemish municipality of Dilbeek .
After Neerpelt and Overpelt had previously agreed in principle to a merger, the new name of the municipality was announced on 4 November 2017 after a local referendum on the question. Out of the three possibilities Dommelpelt, Pelt or Pelten more than 74 percent of the votes eventually went to Pelt.
