Norwegian Jewel is NCL's first of four Jewel-class ships. The vessel has a gross tonnage (GT) of 93,502 and measures 7,500 DWT.The cruise ship is 294.13 metres (965 ft 0 in) long overall and 63.5 m (208 ft 4 in) between perpendiculars with a beam of 32.2 m (105 ft 8 in) and a draught of 8.6 m (28 ft 3 in).

Norwegian Gem was the newest cruise ship in Norwegian Cruise Line's fleet until the debut of Norwegian Epic in June 2010. Construction began on 7 June 2006 at the Meyer Werft Shipyard of Papenburg, Germany. She was delivered to NCL on 1 October 2007.
Norwegian Pearl is the third of NCL's four Jewel-class ships. She is a training ship for new or returning crew members. She was preceded by Norwegian Jewel in 2005, and Pride of Hawaii (now Norwegian Jade) in 2006. She was followed by Norwegian Gem in 2007. Each ship has different amenities, but has a similar exterior and interior design.
