Alexandra Carlisle, portrait by Alfred Cheney Johnston (1922) Alexandra Carlisle (born Alexandra Elizabeth Swift, 15 January 1886 – 21 April 1936) was an English actress and suffragist who settled in the United States. She was also known in the U.S. as Alexandra Carlisle Pfeiffer, adding the name of her third husband.

Carlisle is known for co-writing and playing both the lead female and male counterpart roles in the 1982 film Liquid Sky. [2] She also played a minor role of Victoria in the 1985 Susan Seidelman film Desperately Seeking Susan, the cross dresser prostitute Gwendoline in Crocodile Dundee [3] and starred in an episode of TV series Miami Vice.

The album revived Carlisle's career in the singles chart – producing three top twenty hits (two of them top ten).
