This is a complete list of Renfe and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya-operated railway stations in Barcelona, sorted alphabetically, excluding Barcelona Metro stations. It only includes stations strictly located within the municipality of Barcelona proper (as opposed to the metropolitan area of Barcelona ).
Plaça d'Espanya, also simply known as Espanya, is an interchange complex underneath Plaça d'Espanya, in the Barcelona district of Sants-Montjuïc, in Catalonia, Spain.It comprises the Barcelona terminus of the Llobregat–Anoia Line and a Barcelona Metro station complex served by lines 1 (L1) and 3 (L3).
As built, the station was one of the system's few open-air stations, with a pair of side platforms. However both the metro line and the adjacent main lines were rebuilt and enclosed over a two-year period up to June 2009, during this period the station was closed. According to Barcelona City Council the work cost €15.6 million. [2] [3] [4] [5]
The station was opened in 2001, when the section of line L3 was extended from Montbau station. It remained the terminus of line L3 until 2008, when the line was further extended to Trinitat Nova station. [2] [3] Canyelles station was designed by Alfons Soldevila [3] and is considerably more modern-looking than most of the city's other stations.
