Annandale: Developed as the racecourse of Shimla, Annandale is 2 km (1.2 mi)–4 km (2.5 mi) from the Ridge at a height of 1,864 m (6,117 ft). It is now used by the Indian Army. Tara Devi temple was built by Sen dynasty kings sometime around 1766 A.D. [1] The fort of Giri Sen is still there in Junga. [2]According to a story which traces back to 250 years, [3] the king Bhupendra Sen built the temple and after he had a vision in which Goddess Tara Devi asked him to install a template there so that people could get her blessings.
Gaiety Theatre or Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex in Shimla, photographed in May 2023. Gaiety Theatre was opened on 30 May 1887, to a design by the English architect Henry Irwin. It is an example of the Gothic Revival style of architecture, derived from British Victorian examples. It was once part of the large Town Hall Complex.
