The Marching Knights typically field a membership of 35 students, but see success on the national scale despite their size. The band has been a BOA Regional Finalist by score at multiple competitions since 2012, and in 2016 won Class A at the BOA St. Louis Super Regional, notching their first Class A win at any BOA competition.
In 1915, St. Joseph Academy, an all-girls academy, was opened as a day and boarding school operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille. In 1950, Archbishop John T. McNicholas designated the academy would become the first co-ed parochial high school in Cincinnati.

The Coon Creek Girls were one of the first all-female string bands. The band was created in the mid-1930s by John Lair for his Renfro Valley Barn Dance show. The group toured throughout the greater region of Cincinnati, and performed at the White House for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, his wife, Eleanor and the King and Queen of England, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
