Pepperidge Farm Incorporated is an American commercial bakery founded in 1937 by Margaret Rudkin, who named the brand after her family's 123-acre farm property in Fairfield, Connecticut, [1] which had been named for the pepperidge tree. A subsidiary of the Campbell Soup Company since 1961, it is based in Norwalk, Connecticut.
The cookie is marketed as the Monaco in Canada; local company Milano Bakeries had established prior rights to the "Milano" brand for cookies sold in that country. The Pepperidge Farm corporate headquarters is still located in Norwalk, CT. The original plant on the same site is scheduled for demolition and a new plant has recently been constructed in Bloomfield, CT. I also edited the article to include the location of the 7 other plants.
