The 380+ members of the Marching Band come from all across America and overseas and represent every academic major on campus. Made up of Notre Dame’s finest, Band members are recognized each year as distinguished graduates in their respective fields of study.
Every year, the band opens its annual Band Camp with a march across campus. The strains of the Victory March draw hundreds out of their offices and dorms to watch the band members and auditionees make their way from the Ricci Band Building to Stepan Fields.

The Notre Dame Victory March was born, and was first played at Notre Dame on Easter Sunday in 1909. Notre Dame Band Director Joseph Casasanta skillfully arranged the piece to sound the way we hear it today.

In 2012 the Notre Dame Band performed with the Band Chicago at Soldier Field and performed at the 2013 National Championship. In 2011 the Notre Dame Band was awarded the prestigious Sudler Trophy, considered the “Heisman Trophy” of collegiate bands.
The Notre Dame Band Ambassador Program started in Spring, 2015 as a way for current band members to reach out to newly admitted students at Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, and Holy Cross College, and represent the Notre Dame Band to alumni, fans, and the community.
