George Preston Marshall (October 11, 1896 – August 9, 1969) was an American professional football executive who founded the National Football League (NFL)'s Washington Redskins. He founded the team as the Boston Braves in 1932. The following season, he relocated the club from Braves Field to Fenway Park and renamed them as the Redskins.
Robert Wilson (March 4, 1968- May 7, 2023) [1] [2] was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Michigan State Spartans and was selected by the Washington in the first round of the 1991 NFL draft .
Michael continued to appear on sports panel shows and Washington Redskins-related programs for WRC-TV and Washington-area sports talk radio stations until more production and budget cuts forced those shows to be terminated. Michael died from leukemia on December 24, 2009.
Coy Randall Gibbs (December 9, 1972 – November 6, 2022) [1] [2] [3] was an American racing driver, assistant coach with the Washington Redskins, and co-owner of Joe Gibbs Racing. He was the son of Joe Gibbs , five-time NASCAR Cup Series championship -winning owner and Pro Football Hall of Famer .
He played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame and was a member of the 1988 undefeated national championship team. Dahl was drafted in the third round of the 1991 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. [1]
During seven seasons under Allen and Torgeson, the Redskins compiled a 67–30–1 record; they won the conference title in 1972 (but lost Super Bowl VII to the Miami Dolphins in January 1973). In February 1978, Allen returned to the Los Angeles Rams, and Torgeson followed him as an assistant coach, [ 18 ] but Allen was fired in mid-August.
Walton was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, in 1935, the son of former Washington Redskins guard Frank "Tiger" Walton.Like his father, Walton was a football star at Beaver Falls High School; both also starred at the University of Pittsburgh before playing in the NFL for the Washington Redskins, followed by coaching the Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers.
