Cataract Canyon, near the Big Drop Rapids. Cataract Canyon is a 46-mile-long (74 km) canyon of the Colorado River located within Canyonlands National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in southern Utah. Below the Confluence, Cataract Canyon contains powerful whitewater rapids, similar to those found in the Grand Canyon. However, since there is no large impoundment on the Colorado River above Canyonlands National Park, river flow through the Confluence is determined by snowmelt, not management.

Havasu Creek is the second largest tributary of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park. [5] The drainage basin for Havasu Creek is about 3,000 square miles (7,800 km 2). It includes the town of Williams, Arizona, and Grand Canyon Village. [6] Havasu Creek starts out above the canyon wall as a small trickle of snow run-off and rain water.
