Illinois Industrial School for Girls (Park Ridge, 1909) The facility was relocated to Park Ridge in 1908 and renamed the Park Ridge School for Girls in 1913. [1] Several of the buildings were funded by Julius Rosenwald, and were designed by Holabird & Roche, the same firm which designed the Chicago Board of Trade Building and Soldier Field. [1]
Powers had been a Chicago alderman on the Chicago City Council and Illinois General Assembly legislator in the 1920s, and used the site for picnics to feed the needy during the Great Depression. [3] The park also has a military history. There is a defunct Nike Ajax missile honoring the missile site that occupied the area during the Cold War years.

The Ridge Historic District is a residential historic district in the Beverly and Morgan Park neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois. As its name suggests, the district is centered on a ridge , making it one of the few areas of high ground in the generally flat city.
