September 7–17, 2018 – Hurricane Florence made landfall less than a mile south of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina with winds of 90 mph (145 km/h). The hurricane was first declared a threat to the state on Friday. Several people were rescued offshore due to rip currents affecting the area.
