Caen–Carpiquet Airport (French: Aéroport de Caen–Carpiquet) (IATA: CFR, ICAO: LFRK) is an international airport located in Carpiquet, 6 km west of Caen, [1] both communes of the Calvados département in the Normandy (formerly Lower Normandy) region of France. Chalair Aviation has its head offices at the airport. [2]

On Saturday, August 14, 1920, the first aircraft landed at what became the Burlington Municipal Airport. [7] The pilot was Captain Hubert Stanford Broad, who served in the Air Forces of Great Britain during World War I. [7] He circled the city of Burlington, did a few stunts for awaiting spectators and landed his Avro plane in the new field north of Williston Road. [7]
The airport covers 540 acres (220 ha) and has two asphalt runways: 5/23 is 4,000 x 100 ft (1,219 x 30 m) and 18/36 is 5,300 x 100 ft (1,615 x 30 m).
