In Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie, Hawk Moth's plans are still intact. Unlike the TV series version, this one surrendered upon learning that Adrien is Cat Noir. A man uses the Butterfly Miraculous and its kwami Nooroo, becoming Hawk Moth in order to get the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses and obtain absolute power. Master Fu is notified of this by the kwami of the Turtle Miraculous, Wayzz, and sets off to find new Miraculous holders, as he is 186 years old and couldn't fight himself.
Hawk Moth eventually exposes Master Fu, forcing him to make Marinette the new Guardian. Nathalie falls ill from using the damaged Peacock Miraculous, but Hawk Moth repairs it and uses it together with the Butterfly Miraculous to become "Shadow Moth", able to create both akumas and sentimonsters.
As a result, she is given a pair of earrings known as the Ladybug Miraculous, which when worn grants Marinette the ability to transform into Ladybug, her superheroine alias. Ladybug and Cat Noir's goal is to protect Paris from the villain Hawk Moth (French: Papillon, lit. 'Butterfly') and defeat him altogether.
Cat Noir and Ladybug's aim is to protect Paris and reclaim the Butterfly Miraculous from the villain Hawk Moth (French: Papillon, lit. 'Butterfly'), unaware that the latter is actually Adrien's father. Every Miraculous is accompanied by a small magical creature known as a kwami, with Adrien's kwami being Plagg, a black cat-like being.
