Indonesian Bethel Church or Bethel Full Gospel Church of God (Indonesian: Gereja Bethel Indonesia) abbreviated as GBI, is a group of Christian Pentecostal churches in Indonesia. It is a member of Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee). The headquarters of the organisation is in Jakarta. The name translates as Indonesia Bethel Church. [2]
In 1978, Bethany Church was founded by Rev. Prof. Dr. Abraham Alex Tanuseputra, at Jalan Manyar Rejo II/36-38, Surabaya. At that time the Bethany Church was incorporated as part of the Indonesian Bethel Church Synod (GBI) of (Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee)), so it was referred to as "GBI Bethany Congregation" or "GBI Bethany".
The church was founded in 1977 by Pastor Abraham Alex Tanuseputra. [1] It included his family and 7 people. By 1987, the Church had 2,000 members. It was a member of the Indonesian Bethel Church (Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee)) until 2003, when the regional section Bethany Indonesian Church became independent.
