Genesis were an English progressive rock band from Godalming, Surrey. Formed in January 1967, the group originally consisted of lead vocalist and flautist Peter Gabriel, guitarist Anthony Phillips, bassist and guitarist Mike Rutherford, keyboardist Tony Banks and drummer Chris Stewart.
