The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations was an international football tournament that was held in Cameroon from 9 January to 6 February 2022. The 24 national teams involved in the tournament were allowed to register a squad of up to 28 players, including a minimum of three goalkeepers, to allow teams to deal with any COVID-19 cases.
The 2021 tournament was the 33rd edition since its inauguration in 1957. The hosts were Cameroon, who were originally awarded the rights to host the 2019 tournament. [2] However, because of delays in construction of stadiums and other necessary infrastructure, CAF stripped Cameroon from hosting the 2019 tournament and it was relocated to Egypt. [3]
