Machicomoco State Park is a 645-acre (261 ha) state park located in Gloucester County, Virginia. [ 1 ] [ 3 ] The park is home to the historic Timberneck House , built in 1793. [ 4 ] The park also contains the Virginia Indians open-air interpretive pavilion, and a number of other exhibits on native history like those of the Powhatan Confederacy .
Belle Isle State Park is located in Lancaster County, Virginia, on the Rappahannock River. It sits between Deep Creek and Morattico Creek and is currently under public ownership. The park has an area of 892 acres (3.61 km 2) [1] and has facilities for camping, fishing, boating and picnics. As of 2015, the yearly visitation was 44,502. [4]
Sweet Run State Park is a state park in northern Loudoun County, Virginia, near Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. The park was dedicated on 6 October 2023 by Governor Glenn Youngkin . [ 1 ] The 884-acre (3.58 km 2 ) park is the first state park in Loudoun County and the 42nd park to be established under the Virginia state park system. [ 2 ]
Caledon State Park is a 2,579-acre (10.44 km 2) state park located in King George, Virginia. As of 2010, the yearly visitation was 49,328. [3] The property was initially owned by the Alexander brothers, founders of the city of Alexandria, and was established in 1659 as Caledon Plantation. Ownership passed, in 1974, to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
