Beginning in season four, the Region 2 and 4 DVDs include an open matte 16:9 version of the television show. The Region 1 DVDs include the standard format (4:3) version. The reason for this difference is that the Region 2 and 4 DVDs were released before the Region 1 DVDs, with less involvement from Mutant Enemy Productions.
These DVDs mostly feature five episodes of the show (one DVD features four episodes, and another one features six episodes), unlike the standard four episodes for other regions. They also use the U.K. English voice dubbing, are in widescreen format, and feature subtitles and menus that are more interactive than in other regions.
In Germany (Region 2), season 1–4 and 6–8 were released in two separate sets for each season. The JAG Season 8 DVD set was released in Region 1 on March 17, 2009, in Region 2 on June 21, 2010, and Region 4 on August 5, 2010.
