The Ospreys (Welsh: Y Gweilch), formerly the Neath–Swansea Ospreys [2] [3] is one of the four professional rugby union teams from Wales. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions.

The team formed as a result of Neath RFC and Swansea RFC combining to create a new merged entity, as part of the new regional structure of Welsh rugby , that began in 2003.
He started all of Wales' games in the 2023 U20 Six Nations, and played in the 2023 World Rugby U20 Championship. [ 8 ] [ 9 ] On 31 January 2025, he made his senior debut against France in the opening game of the 2025 Six Nations , coming off the bench following an injury to Owen Watkin .
Hopkins is from Cwmllynfell, and began playing his junior rugby at Ystradgynlais RFC. He studied at Swansea University, and while there represented Swansea RFC. [2] He broke through to the Ospreys squad in 2023, debuting against Zebre Parma in January. [3] He scored his first try for the side against the Dragons in March. [4]

Having made his regional debut for the Ospreys in September, 2015 as an 18-year-old, he has developed into a mainstay at the Liberty Stadium. After his breakthrough season in 2015/16 he suffered an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury in training in July, 2016, and was forced to spend more than a year on the sidelines.
Matthew Aubrey (born 4 June 1997) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for the Cardiff as a scrum-half. He was a Wales under-18 international. He was a Wales under-18 international. Aubrey made his debut for the Ospreys in 2013 having previously played for the club's academy and Swansea RFC .
