Among the founders were The Rev. John H. Dorsey (the second Black Catholic priest ordained in the US), many White priests, and three Black parishioners. Knights of St. John - Founded in 1879. Membership is open to "practical Catholic gentlemen" ages 16–55. Social membership available was also available, even to those over 55.
