This is a list of state prisons in Nevada operated by the Nevada Department of Corrections. The only federal prison in Nevada is Federal Prison Camp, Nellis, closed in 2005. This list does not include county jails located in the state of Nevada.
In 1862, the first prison in Nevada was created by the Territorial Legislature. The Legislature leased the property of the Warm Springs Hotel, just east of Carson City, for use as a Prison. This property was owned by Abraham Curry, who operated the Warm Springs Hotel on the property, which was also the meeting place of the Territorial Legislature.
