Name and history. Stark County's Jackson Township was named for Andrew Jackson, a major general in the War of 1812 and later the seventh President of the United States (1829–1837), who was at the height of his popularity in 1815 when the Township was formed. It is one of 37 Jackson townships statewide. [4]
The Stark County Courthouse and its Annex are listed on the National Register of Historic Places for Canton, Ohio. The courthouse building was designed by Cleveland, Ohio based architect George F. Hammond in 1895. [2] The building is considered to be in the Beaux Arts Architecture style reflecting Classicism styles.
