Those last two templates (/Volume and /Issue) do brittle string-splitting, and as such require this template's output with the param 2 to be formatted as "blahblahblah volumenumber, blahblahblah issuenumber" (they split the string by the space character, and then parse out the appropriate segment as digits). Similar to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Templates/Issue pageviews (which is itself transcluded at the end busted because graphs don't work).. The core of this is Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Templates/Article list maker, which uses Module:Signpost to fetch article lists from indices.
