Covington is a city in central Tipton County, Tennessee, United States. Covington is the second largest city and county seat of Tipton County. [ 5 ] The city is located in West Tennessee , 12 mi (19 km) east of the Mississippi River .
The congregation was established in 1834 by settlers from Iredell County, North Carolina, and became the core of the small community of Mount Carmel. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] In 1839, a Presbyterian congregation that had been organized 10 years earlier in Covington was merged into the Mount Carmel church. [ 4 ]
