Pan Tianshou (simplified Chinese: 潘天寿; traditional Chinese: 潘天壽; pinyin: Pān Tiānshòu; March 14, 1897– September 5, 1971) was a Chinese painter and art educator. Pan was born in Guanzhuang, Ninghai County , Zhejiang Province , and graduated from Zhejiang First Normal School (now Hangzhou High School ).

In 1935 he entered the National School of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Art) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, graduating in 1941. [1] At the school he studied Chinese painting under Pan Tianshou and Western art under Fang Ganmin and Wu Dayu., [3] [4] who were prominent Chinese artists trained in France.
