Forest Township is one of fourteen townships in Clinton County, Indiana. As of the 2020 census, its population was 759 (a tiny decline of 760 from 2010 [4] The township was named for the large amount of timber it contained at the time it was organized. [5]) and it contained 323 housing units.
The town of Forest was platted on September 1, 1874, by Henry Y. Morrison to serve as a station along the Frankfort and Kokomo Railroad (later the Clover Leaf Railroad). The town's name was given because the site was forested, and the first railroad tickets sold there were issued from an oak stump used as a ticket counter.
