Shortly after NATO's acceptance of the 5.56×45mm NATO rifle cartridge, Draft Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 4179 was proposed in order to allow NATO members to easily share rifle ammunition and magazines down to the individual soldier level. The U.S. M16 rifle magazine was proposed for standardization.

  3. Did Okay mag company get bought by another? - AR15.COM

The market share of people buying aluminum mags is tiny compared to polymer. The institutional/military market is near zero. Young people who are on the gun scene now don’t have the hoarder/panic/neckbeard mentality that the 40+ crowd does. Buying Okay’s operations would be a low return investment at best.

Also, I'm assuming OKAY made ALL of Colt's magazines, as Colt was stamped 33710 (OKAY's cage code, not Colt's 13629). One Okay floorplate, unlabeled body, cage 33710 dated 6-91 has left side cage code but no right side "MIL only." The only dated pre-94 Two Okay floorplate, Colt name on body, cage 33710 dated 12-97 and 4-99, right side "MIL only"

Short version: NHMTG was owned by an old CEO of Colt and the owner of Ronan Corp. They were the commercial outlet for Okay that sold mags under the NHMTG and Colt name. The CEO died a couple years ago and the owner of Ronan didn’t want to keep the company so Okay started selling the mags under the Surefeed brand.

If OKAY can produce an Aluminum Magazine that's just as reliable be as a Pmag but with the longer lasting durability of Aluminum; then it's a big plus. Posted: 12/29/2018 12:15:53 PM EDT [#22]

The 20 round mags are a little different fron Okays if I remember right. I don't have any 30 round Brownells. To me the Okays seem to be a little higher quality. But if they both work they both work. LGS had Okay Industries mags for $9.99, they have the old tan follower but at that price i bought an arm full.

Posted: 7/22/2009 5:26:00 PM EDT. I have some new NHMTG Alluminum mags that are marked with the cage code 33710 on the body and also have the date stamped right below the code (12-08). Except for the markings on the floor plate, they look just like colt mags. I thought the cage code 33710 was for Okay mags which make the mags for Colt.

My number one go-to mag are clear Lancers, L5 AWM, or L7, 10R in .308, 20R in .308 and 5.56 (or any .458 SOCOM or cat based on it), and 20R in .308. Next on my go-to list is the OK Surefeed E2 30R. Any 6.8 or 6.8 based cat will only see PRI 6.8 20R and 30R mags (body size, not actual round count).

I would be buying Okay too. I've had several of my first Pmags start splitting down the spine. I'm replacing all my mags with aluminum. Picked up a bunch of Centers for $5.50. Okay/NHMTG mags are the best however IMHO. Iirc OKAY made the nhtmg mags as well as factory Colt mags. Okay is all I buy anymore.
