The electoral ward of Cwm Clydach is coterminous with the boundaries of the community. Since the formation of Rhondda Cynon Taf in 1995 it has elected a county councillor to sit on Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. With the exception of 1999-2004 (when it was represented by Plaid Cymru) it has been represented by the Labour Party. [4]

Ton Pentre (Welsh: Ton Pentre) is a village in the Rhondda Valley in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Historically part of Glamorgan, Ton Pentre, a former industrial coal mining village, is a district of the community of Pentre. The old district of Ystradyfodwg was named after the church at Ton Pentre.
Treforest has been an electoral ward to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council since 1995, electing one county borough councillor. It has been represented by the Labour Party, Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats at various points since 1995. [4] Treforest is also a community ward to Pontypridd Town Council, electing three town councillors. [5]
