F1 Pole Position 2, known in Japan as Human Grand Prix II (ヒューマングランプリ2, lit. "Human Grand Prix 2") , is the sequel to Human Grand Prix and the predecessor to Human Grand Prix III: F1 Triple Battle .

Fuji Speedway Corporation was established in 1963 as Japan NASCAR Corporation. At first, the circuit was planned to hold NASCAR-style races in Japan. Pole Position was released in two configurations: a standard upright cabinet and an environmental/cockpit cabinet. Both versions include a steering wheel and a gear shifter for low and high gears, but the environmental/cockpit cabinet featured both an accelerator and a brake pedal, while the standard upright one only featured an accelerator pedal.
