Kailashnath Mahadev Statue (Nepali: कैलाशनाथ महादेव) is the second tallest Shiva statue in the world. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] It is currently the fifth tallest Hindu deity statue . It is situated in Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur District in Nepal , about 20 km from Kathmandu .
This sculpture is considered one of the finest pieces of Indian art, and it is possible that the temple came to be known as Kailasa after it. Dhavalikar theorizes that this sculpture was carved around 3–4 decades after the completion of the main shrine, on the basis of its similarity to the tandava sculpture in the Lankeshvar cave. [17] H.
Ellora, also called Verul or Elura, is the short form of the ancient name Elloorpuram. [10] The older form of the name has been found in ancient references such as the Baroda inscription of 812 AD which mentions "the greatness of this edifice" and that "this great edifice was built on a hill by Krishnaraja at Elapura, the edifice in the inscription being the Kailasa temple.
