Zatch Bell, known in the Japanese version as Gash Bell (ガッシュ・ベル, Gasshu Beru), is the title character of the franchise. Raiku created Zatch during the series' conception on a suggestion for a cute yet humble lead character. Zatch's spells are based on lightning which he fires from his mouth, alluding to Raiku's pseudonym.
