The Japan Air Self-Defense Force flag was first adopted in 1955 after the JASDF was created in 1954. It is based on a cap badge made in 1954. The flag is cobalt blue with a gold winged eagle on top of a combined star, the moon, the Hinomaru sun disc and clouds. [33] The latest version of the JASDF flag was re-adopted on 19 March 2001. [34]

In 1954 the Self-Defense Forces law was passed by Japan's National Diet [8] and on July 1, 1954 the Japan Air Self-Defense Force was founded. [9] The first JASDF fighter squadron, (the 1st Squadron ) was founded at Hamamatsu Air Base in Shizuoka Prefecture on January 10, 1956 with F-86F Sabre aircraft.

2nd Tactical Airlift Group (第2輸送航空隊, dai-ni-kusoukoukuutai) is a group of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It consists of the 402nd Tactical Airlift Squadron, based at Iruma Air Base in Saitama Prefecture. [1] [2] It is sometimes referred to as the 2nd Tactical Airlift Wing.
