Mayday [b] is a Canadian documentary television program examining air crashes, near-crashes, hijackings, bombings, and other disasters. Mayday uses re-enactments and computer-generated imagery to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to each disaster.
Trapped is a six-episode documentary television series that premiered on November 7, 2007, on the National Geographic Channel.Produced in association with the Canadian National Geographic Channel and Cineflix (which produced Mayday, also known as Air Crash Investigation), the program examined various actual incidents or disasters in which victims were trapped on the site.
The series was produced with the cooperation of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), and interviews many of the investigators and survivors of air crashes. A book also titled Black Box (ISBN 0760304009) was published in 1996 as a companion to the series.
Air crash investigations can often take months or years to complete, meaning the cause of the crash likely won't be known for a long time. The damaged black box could further delay the investigation.
