Sumitranandan Pant (20 May 1900 – 28 December 1977) [1] was an Indian poet. He was one of the most celebrated 20th century poets of the Hindi language and was known for romanticism in his poems which were inspired by nature, people and beauty within.
In the 20th century, Hindi literature saw a romantic upsurge. This is known as Chhayavad , a type of neo-Romanticism, and the literary figures belonging to this school are known as Chhayavadi. Chhayavad continued until the latter half of the 1930s, when the golden era of modern Hindi poetry was gradually replaced by social didacticism inspired by rising nationalist fervour. Some of the later poets of this era, like Dinkar, Mahadevi and Bachchan took nationalist and social critiquing within their poetry.
Topically, the ghazal focus also changed from nostalgic reminiscences of the homeland and loved ones, towards romantic or erotic themes. These included sub-genres with themes of courtly love ( udharî ), eroticism ( hissî ), homoeroticism ( mudhakkar ), and as a highly stylized introduction to a larger poem ( tamhîdî ).
Sudarshan Faakir was born in Jalandhar in British Punjab in 1934. [1] After completing high school, he moved to Jalandhar and completed B.A. from DAV College. During college, he was very active in dramatics and poetry.

Shiv Kumar Batalvi was born on 23 July 1936 (though a few documents related to him state 8 October 1937) in the village Bara Pind Lohtian in the Shakargarh Tehsil of Gurdaspur District (now in Narowal District of Punjab, Pakistan) into a Punjabi Hindu Brahmin family to father, Pandit Krishan Gopal Sharma, the village tehsildar in the revenue department, and mother, Shanti Devi, a housewife.
