The IAPPS was founded in 1946 during the first International Plant Congress in Louvain, Belgium. The first president of the organisation was Olaf Freyberg of Malmö, Sweden, who made the following comment: The world needs a plant protection organization, and not only to plan future congresses, but much more provide a platform for the discussion of current research results amongst scientists.
The Journals Division of the University of Chicago Press, in partnership with 27 learned and professional societies and associations, foundations, museums, and other not-for-profit organizations, currently publishes and distributes 81 peer-reviewed academic journal titles.

Ptilophyllum is an extinct form genus of leaves belonging to the extinct seed plant order Bennettitales. The leaves, like other Bennettitales morphogenera are generally pinnate . Leaves possibly attributable to the genus are known from the Oligocene of Australia, which may be the last known representatives of the order.
Maize (Zea mays, Poaceae) is the most widely cultivated C 4 plant.[1]In botany, C 4 carbon fixation is one of three known methods of photosynthesis used by plants. C 4 plants increase their photosynthetic efficiency by reducing or suppressing photorespiration, which mainly occurs under low atmospheric CO 2 concentration, high light, high temperature, drought, and salinity.
