Ground usually picks up M-F, while express will pick up Mon-Sat with an earlier pickup on Saturday. If you dropped off past the pickup times the package will sit there until it’s Monday pickup time.
If you scheduled the pickup yourself say online, there should have been fields to fill out for what time window you want the pickup and instructions that pop up on our scanners. Worst case you can reschedule the pickup same day with FedEx Express. They'll come to your door. Just leave it outside for them and they will pick it up.
PSA. If you are waiting for a package and the tracking says "Label Created" and "Shipment Information Sent to Fedex" then Fedex does not have the package yet. It doesn't matter what the shipper is saying. It doesn't matter if you know the person who shipped it personally. If it says that then Fedex has not touched it or scanned it.
My package was stuck in the same location for 18 days before it suddenly moved and was delivered all at once. It is unfortunately better than my USPS package, which has been stuck in the same location for 24 days and counting. Absolutely - anytime FedEx has your package you should be worried.

Also let them know package will be outside next to Your front door. It also helps if maybe you tag a paper with "fedex pick up" written on it to help driver identify pick up.

Yes. Sign up for the FedEx tracking service. You can change destinations via the app or their website and have it held at a drop off point for you to pick up. TLDR - Hold At Location is technically done before the shipment moves, and the original intention is to have it held at a location for pickup. Redirect To Hold is done midway through the shipping process (i.e. you've missed a delivery attempt, not going to be home to sign, etc), and can have a 24-48 hour delay.
