mIRC was popular with teenagers and as well as adults back in late 1990s early 2000s. Had my own channel for six years when people I used to talk too, got older and moved on with their lives. Other programs such as ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger etc are easier to use than mIRC. That is possibly one reason why it's not as popular now.
