Hoya kerrii, also referred to colloquially as Hoya hearts, [citation needed] is a species of Hoya native to the south-east of Asia. Its eponymous collector is Arthur Francis George Kerr, Irish physician and botanist. As the thick leaves are heart-shaped, the plant is sometimes named "lucky-heart". In Europe, it is sold for Saint Valentine's Day .
Hoyas are evergreen perennial creepers or vines or rarely, shrubs. They often grow epiphytically on trees; some grow terrestrially, or occasionally in rocky areas. They climb by twining, and with the employment of adventitious roots. Larger species grow 1–18 m (3–59 ft), or more, with suitable support in trees.
Leaves are generally 1.7–2.2 cm in length and 1.3–1.8 cm in width. Previous to the discovery of Hoya minutiflora, H. bilobata had the smallest recorded flowers of a Hoya. The flower clusters, or umbels, of H. bilobata have light pink petals that spread apart, with the tips curving upwards, to expose their yellow/pink central crowns.
