Kapp led the BC Lions to their first Grey Cup Championship victory in 1964. With the Vikings, he led them to victory in the 1969 NFL Championship Game, the only league championship in team history. Francis Asbury Tarkenton (born February 3, 1940), nicknamed "the Scrambler", is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 18 seasons, primarily with the Minnesota Vikings.
He played for the Vikings until 1967, when he was traded to the New York Giants, [5] and Joe Kapp took his place as the Vikings' starting quarterback . [6] Kapp led the Vikings to their first playoff appearance in 1968, [7] but he was traded to the Boston Patriots in 1970 and Gary Cuozzo stepped up to replace him.
