The Lead Series were manufactured at Fender's Fullerton, California plant and priced below the Stratocaster models of the time (approx. $495.00). They were eventually replaced in Fender's line up by the Squier JV model in 1982 as Fender expanded its operations by starting Fender Japan.
The Epiphone Thunderbird IV limited edition, a budget alternative to the Gibson models, has a maple neck bolted onto an alder body, Alpine white finish with black hardware and assembled at the Epiphone Custom Shop in Korea. This model is currently no longer produced. (Epiphone has had other runs of the LE in other colors, as well.)
In 1986, Fender Japan began producing an Esquire model for export to the US, based on the 1954 version, under the brand name "Squier by Fender". The guitar featured threaded saddles and a white pickguard, with either butterscotch blonde or metallic red finish. There were also said to be black and sunburst versions.
From 1959 to 1964 the finish was a sunburst, from 1964 to 1965 it was cherry, from 1966 on the "SG" Melody Maker it was fire engine red or pelham blue, in 1967 red was replaced by sparkling burgundy and walnut became an option from 1968. [2] Rare examples were made to order in other custom Gibson colors e.g. Inverness Green. [citation needed]
From 2003 to 2004 Fender released two limited edition models in polished maple hardwood (no tolex covering). One of these had a classic three-color sunburst finish; the other was a stained natural finish (both with Jensen speakers). From late 2006 to March 2007, Fender offered the Hot Rod Deluxe White Lightning Limited Edition.
Ebony, Cherry, Classic White, Natural The Gibson Explorer is a type of electric guitar model by Gibson guitars, released in 1958. The Explorer offered a radical, " futuristic " body design, much like its siblings: the Flying V , which was released the same year, and the Moderne , which was designed in 1957 but not released until 1982.
The hardware includes a gold-plated hard-tail Strat bridge, gold-plated Schaller die-cast tuners with black or pearl buttons and gold-plated tone and volume knobs. [4] The current Upgrade model was designed to commemorate a 2005 benefit concert for the James Burton Foundation in Shreveport, Louisiana. [ 5 ]
