North Carolina Highway 5 (NC 5) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It runs entirely in Moore County and connects the Sandhills municipalities of Aberdeen and Pinehurst. It also serves as an alternate route for NC 211. NC 5's route was designated in 1961 and it has not changed since then.
Tom Bendelow (1868–1936), nicknamed "The Johnny Appleseed of American Golf" and "The Dean of American Golf", [1] was a Scottish American golf course architect during the first half of the twentieth century. He is credited with having designed some 600 courses in a 35-year span. [2]

The annual North Carolina Debutante Ball is held at the club following the formal debutante presentation at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts. The highway's routing appeared on the 1916 Highway Map by the North Carolina State Highway Commission for the five year federal aid program. [10] However NC 13 was not officially marked on any state highway maps until 1924; where it was routed from NC 10/NC 75 in Durham north through Rougemont and Timberlake to NC 57 east of Roxboro.
