West Shore Community College offers a variety of degree programs, one and two year certificates, as well as non-credit course options. some of these courses are offered online or in hybrid modes. More than 400 students each semester take online courses, with over 25 courses to choose from.
James W. Clark, was appointed as the first president of Walters State Community College in 1969 and served in that capacity until 1974. [8] While classes were held in temporary quarters in Morristown during the first year of the college's operation, Dr. Clark oversaw the completion of The College Center, the first building built on the campus and opened in 1971.
In May 2015, the college suspended classes until Fall 2016 term in hopes of reorganizing. On May 17, 2018, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission gave its approval for Knoxville College to once again reopen its doors and offer classes. On July 1, 2018, Knoxville College website announced resumption of enrolling students for fall 2018 semester.
